I tend to agree (because it sounds better for older workers) that productivity is declining because, as the author points out, “older workers have positive spillover effects on productivity. They share their store of specialized knowledge. The problem is, with workers retiring in droves, productivity is driving down companywide. The author refers to this as the “wise menâ€Â theory.” Later in the article, the author shoots this theory down…uggggh- sorry older workers! Retraining and continuing to educate the aging workforce will be critical to many companies success in the future.
