One reason older boomers make residential moves after they retire is to shake up and revitalize their depleted social lives. Retiring is liberating, but it also means no longer enjoying the everyday camaraderie of coworkers. And the friends who remain sometimes must cope with chronic health problems and functional declines that make them unreliable companions.
