Ken Dychtwald has been watching, measuring and forecasting the aging of America for almost half a century, so it is hard to believe he could be surprised by much in his research any more. An recent Age Wave survey found a majority of the respondents aged 65 and older say they believe their best years are happening now or are still ahead of them.

Dychtwald recently took time to talk with Next Avenue about his research and memoir. The article is a transcript of the conversation between Next Avenue and Ken.

The key to having the best years ahead, I believe, is to do some planning prior to life in retirement. The requires some introspection to figure out what is really important to you at this point in your life.
