After receiving at heart transplant at age 24, Amy Silverstein needed a second one 25 years later- more than double the doctor’s expected it to last. Â She had to make a decision to get in line for another transplant or let her dying heart take her with it. But, in order to get a second transplant she would need to leave her home in New York and travel to Los Angeles. She has authored two books about her experiences, Sick Girl and My Glory Was I Had Such Friends.
